Phone Book Booster Seat

I was over at my friend Nanette's house yesterday afternoon and she shared this super crafty idea with me. It is so neat that I told her to do a blog post on it. Well... she doesn't bog so I asked her if I could. She said that I could so! It's kind of my first guest blogger! Very exciting for me!

You will need 3 phone books (it's ok, just go grab them from the neighbors yard. They'll never miss them  or you could ask them.) A roll of duct tape, a role of clear packaging tape, pretty gift wrap, and some of that non-skid stuff they sell fr kitchens. Now Nanette used Elmer's glue as well, but I know how you bloggers are about your glue so I'll just say use a strong liquid adhesive and we'll save the debate.

Step 1 is to stack the phone books and wrap them completely in duct tape. I kinda' like the look, but of course it just needs a little cuteness flair. So you'll want to wrap it in some cute wrapping paper like this left over Christmas wrap.

Then you'll wrap it in the clear packaging tape so that it is a wipe-able surface. You know how messy kids can get.

Here's the safety factor - you'll adhere the no-skid stuff to the bottom of your stack with your favorite adhesive. Nanette likes Elmers. I like gel medium. To each their own. Once it's dried you have a super booster seat for home. Nanette's thoughts were that she always has extra little guests at her home and they need to be able to reach the table, but she just doesn't want to spend a lot of money on booster seats. Her daughter never uses the safety strap in her booster seat (which kid does) so this fits the need perfectly.

When Nanette was telling me about this project it almost brought a little tear to my eyes. I remember as a kid going over to relatives houses, friends houses, restaurants, and not being able to reach the table. Someone would inevitably pull out the phone book to give me a little boost. Hope this project not only provides a little function in your house, but maybe even a few memories.

Thank you for commenting. It makes me so happy! I'm not a widely read blog so I always wonder if anyone is reading or if I'm just talking to myself.
